"Auren Bazata" (An Unexpected Marriage).
CHAPTER TWO (Continuation)
It was a moderately sized house that was exceptionally well-designed. The domestic staff bustled back and forth, attending to their chores.
The entire family sat at the dining table, quietly eating breakfast; no one uttered a word until they had completely finished their meal. Ammi then gathered the dishes, took them to the kitchen, and began washing them.
30 Minutes Later
Daddy emerged from his room, fully dressed and prepared to travel to the town of Karaye to attend his nephew's wedding ceremony.
"Ammi, I am ready to head out now," Daddy announced.
"May Allah protect you on the road, Daddy," Ammi replied warmly.
"Amen, amen. See you when I return."
He drove along the highway toward Karaye, speeding down the road as though the entire tarmac had been constructed solely for his use. Fortunately, the highway was entirely free of traffic.
However, just as he reached the outskirts of Gwarzo town, he stepped on the brakes, and his tire suddenly blew out.
"Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihir raji'un" (To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return) was all Daddy could repeat to himself in distress. Who could possibly come to his aid at this early hour of the morning? To make matters worse, he didn't even have a functional spare tire to swap out.
Daddy stood by his car, desperately contemplating a solution. He wondered if he should simply abandon the vehicle on the roadside and find alternative transport to the wedding venue. But if he left, whom could he trust to guard his car? He knew anything could happen to it in his absence.
"What on earth am I going to do now?" he muttered aloud.
Safeer was driving in a hurry. Today was the wedding of his closest friend, and it was absolutely mandatory that he attend.
From a distance, he spotted an elderly man standing by a vehicle, clearly showing signs of distress and in need of urgent assistance. Safeer immediately slowed down his car, drove past Daddy's vehicle, and parked safely just ahead before stepping out.
"Good morning, Alhaji," Safeer greeted respectfully.
"Good morning, my boy," Daddy replied.
"Is there a problem with your vehicle?"
"Yes, indeed. My tire blew out, and unfortunately, I don't have a spare with me."
"Subhanallah!" Safeer exclaimed. "Don't worry, I happen to have a spare tire in my trunk." He immediately walked to the back of his car and pulled it out.
"Let me quickly drive just a short distance ahead; there are local mechanics around who can come over and fit it for you," Safeer offered.
"Wonderful! Thank you so much," Daddy replied, his face lighting up with a wide, appreciative smile.
Safeer drove off to fetch help while Daddy waited. In less than twenty minutes, Safeer returned with two mechanics. They immediately went to work, mounted the spare tire, and completed the job swiftly.
"I am incredibly grateful to you, my boy," Daddy expressed warmly.
"It is absolutely nothing, Alhaji. Helping others is ultimately helping ourselves," Safeer replied modestly.
"Where are you heading to?" Daddy inquired.
"I am traveling to Karaye to attend my friend's wedding," Safeer answered.
"Ah! That is the exact same destination I am heading to!"
From that moment, both men returned to their respective cars and hit the road together. Within a short time, they safely arrived at the venue and witnessed the solemnization of the marriage.
It was only after the wedding vows were completed that Alhaji Al-Ameen Sarakee (Daddy) managed to get a private moment with Safeer. He handed him his professional complementary card.
"Please, accept my card. For Allah's sake, I would like you to visit me at my office tomorrow."
"Thank you very much, sir. By the grace of Allah, I will certainly be there."
"Assalamualaikum."
"Wa alaikumussalam. Welcome back, Alhaji," Ammi greeted warmly as Daddy entered the house.
"Yes, Ammi. How is the household?"
"Everything is perfectly fine," Ammi replied, following Alhaji directly into his bedroom.
3 Hours Later
"Shukra, come over here. Your father wants to have a word with you," Ammi called out.
"Alright, Ammi, I am coming," Shukra replied, slowly rising from the bed where she had been lying down.
Offering her greetings as she entered the room, she respectfully sat down and greeted her father. He responded with a warm, welcoming smile.
After a brief moment, Daddy cleared his throat and addressed her in a firm tone:
"Shukra, I want you to open your ears wide and listen to me very carefully. Understand that what I am about to tell you is a strict parental command, not a matter open for advice or discussion."
Shukra’s heart immediately began to thumping wildly against her chest. What on earth did her father want to tell her?
"Are you listening to me?" he interrupted her racing thoughts.
"Yes," was all she could manage to whisper, waiting anxiously.
"I have chosen a husband for you. In the very near future, he will come over so the two of you can get to know each other."
"A husband?!" Shukra gasped, her eyes widening in sheer shock.
Ammi, equally startled, intervened. "Alhaji, did you just say a husband?"
"Yes, a husband! What is wrong with that?"
"But Alhaji, what you are proposing is simply impossible!" Ammi countered.
"Believe me, it is entirely possible, and you both will live to see it happen," Daddy declared firmly. The moment he finished speaking, he turned on his heels and walked completely out of the house.
Who is this husband that Alhaji Sarakee has chosen for his daughter?
Will they ultimately agree to this sudden marriage, or will it fall apart?
CHAPTER THREE
A gentle knock sounded on the door of Alhaji Sarakee’s private office.
"Yes, come in," Sarakee called out from inside.
Safeer stepped directly into the office. Showing profound cultural respect, he knelt low on the floor to greet Alhaji Sarakee. This display of humility deeply pleased Sarakee, who responded with a relaxed, cheerful expression.
"Please, take a seat."
"Thank you, sir."
"Safeer, I know you might be wondering why I requested your presence here today, but in my view, it shouldn't be a surprise at all. I have a profound favor to ask of you, for Allah's sake."
"Alhaji, what kind of favor can I possibly do for you?" Safeer inquired.
"I want you to promise me that whatever I ask of you, you will do it for me."
"As long as it does not violate our religious laws, I see no reason why I wouldn't do it for you," Safeer responded safely.
"It absolutely does not violate any laws!" Alhaji Sarakee interjected quickly.
Adjusting his posture, Alhaji Sarakee leaned forward and spoke plainly:
"To be completely honest with you, I am incredibly impressed by your character, your maturity, and your upbringing. Because of this, I want to bind you to my family. For Allah's sake, I want you to marry my daughter."
The proposal struck Safeer entirely out of the blue (BAZATA). He found himself utterly speechless and unable to say no on the spot. Yet, truth be told, he had absolutely no intention or desire to enter a marriage at this stage of his life.
"Please, do not refuse my request," Alhaji Sarakee pleaded. "I want you to know that my daughter has no character flaws whatsoever. It isn't that she lacks suitors or cannot find a husband—far from it. I am offering her hand to you simply because I deeply admire your integrity, and I was profoundly touched by how you aided me when I was in desperate need of help."
"In that case, Alhaji, it is an honor. Thank you," Safeer finally conceded.
"No, the gratitude belongs to me, Safeer. Now, please give me your phone number. Whenever you find some free time, you can come over to the house so that the two of you can interact and reach an understanding."
"By the grace of Allah, I will certainly come," Safeer agreed.
"Wonderful. By the way, you haven't told me about your parents, your educational background, or where you currently work."
"My name is Safeer Muhammad Mailafiya," Safeer introduced himself. "My father is a very prominent merchant. I completed my primary and secondary education in Abuja because my father's commercial ventures required him to live there. After I completed secondary school, we relocated back to Kano, where I gained admission into Bayero University Kano (BUK) to study Architectural Technology. Currently, I hold a government employment position, and I also practice independently as a consultant. I travel to various cities for project contracts whenever my services are requested."
"Masha Allah! May Allah grant you continuous success."
"Amen, amen. Thank you, Alhaji."
"The pleasure is entirely mine. I will expect to hear from you soon."
With that, they exchanged pleasantries and parted ways.
The Following Day
"Shukra, what on earth is wrong with you? Ever since this marriage topic was brought up, you have done nothing but weep continuously!" Ammi scolded.
"Ammi, what do you expect me to do with my life? I am being forced into a marriage against my will!" Shukra sobbed.
"Well, Shukra, what choice do you have? You just have to accept it with patience."
"But Ammi, is there absolutely nothing you can do to stop this?"
"What can I possibly do, Shukra? You heard him yourself yesterday; he told me to sit back and watch it happen. Therefore, accepting this as your destiny is the only logical option left for you right now."
"I swear to Allah I can't do it, Ammi! I don't care who this man is, I just want them to leave me alone!"
"Fine! When your father returns, go down there and tell him that yourself!" Ammi snapped, her patience completely worn thin by Shukra's defiant attitude. She turned sharply and marched out of the bedroom.
Suddenly, Shukra's phone began to ring. At first, she didn't want to answer it, but she reluctantly picked it up. It was Aneesa, her close friend and classmate since secondary school. They were currently studying Optometry together at Bayero University Kano (BUK).
"Hello, Aneesa. How are you?"
"I'm fine, Shukra. Are you coming to campus today?"
"I don't think so."
"But why?"
"I'm not feeling well at all."
"Oh, wishing you a quick recovery, my love."
"Thanks. Aneesa, please, once you are done with your lectures today, make sure to stop by the house before you head home."
"Alright, Insha Allah, I will be there."
Later that day, Aneesa arrived at the house. She found Ammi sitting in the living room, and after exchanging warm greetings, she inquired about Shukra.
"She is inside her room, busy crying her eyes out," Ammi sighed.
"Crying? Let me go inside and talk to her, Ammi."
"Please do..."
CHAPTER FOUR
"Shukra, what on earth is wrong with you? Ammi told me you’ve been crying non-stop!" Aneesa exclaimed as she walked into the room.
"Oh, Aneesa, how could I not cry? They are forcing me into an arranged marriage!"
"What?! Say that again, Shukra, I didn't catch that. Did you just say marriage?"
"Yes! An arranged marriage! My daddy is marrying me off to some random, useless man whom I don't even know!"
"So, what are you going to do, Shukra? Are you just going to fold your arms and let this happen without taking any action?"
"Hmm... I have absolutely no choice in the matter, Aneesa," Shukra said, her voice turning cold and vindictive. "But I swear to Almighty Allah, from the very day this marriage vows are sealed, that man can say a permanent goodbye to peace of mind and tranquility! Since he had the audacity to choose to marry me, he has actively invited chaos into his life. He has no idea what he is getting into by marrying me, Shukra... Just wait and see!"
Aneesa shook her head. "Wow... I don't even know what to say to that, except may Allah guide us and make things right."
"Amen," Shukra muttered.
"Alright, I must be on my way now," Aneesa said, standing up from the bed.
"Extend my greetings to your mother."
"She will hear them, Insha Allah," Aneesa replied as she exited the room.
At Safeer’s Family House
The family members were gathered in Mother's living room, relaxing and watching television. Safeer kept stealing nervous glances at his father, a behavior that did not escape the older man’s notice.
"Safeer, what is on your mind?" Abba asked.
"Abba, there is a very important matter I wish to discuss with you and Mother. However, I am quite anxious about how you will both receive the news."
The entire family turned around instantly, facing him with absolute curiosity.
"We are listening, Safeer. Speak freely and tell us what it is," his father encouraged.
Safeer adjusted his posture and narrated the entire sequence of events—from his chance encounter with Alhaji Sarakee on the highway to the unexpected proposal offering his daughter's hand in marriage.
"Alhamdulillah!" Daddy (Abba) exclaimed, a broad, happy smile breaking across his face.
"So, when is the wedding taking place?" Mother (Mamah) asked, her face radiant with excitement.
"He mentioned that it wouldn't take much time at all," Safeer answered.
"May Allah let us live to witness it successfully."
"Amen!" the entire family chorused.
"Yeyyyyyy!" Miemie, Safeer's younger sister, squealed with delight, jumping up. "I am going to start calling all my friends right now to tell them that my big brother's wedding is finally here! Oh my god, that day is going to be an absolute blast! We are going to dance on one leg all night long! Yeyyyyy!" she continued to shout excitedly.
The entire room burst into laughter at her antics, with the sole exception of Safeer. His face hardened into a stern frown; he was a serious man who absolutely detested childish behavior and disrespect.
"I will personally teach you some manners, girl! What on earth is wrong with you? Nonsense!" he barked before storming out of the living room.
"May Allah reform you, Miemie," Aysher sighed (Safeer's older sister, who was next in age after him).
Alhaji Sarakee officially fixed the wedding date for Safeer and Shukra to take place in exactly two weeks. The marriage vows would be sealed first, and the moving-in logistics could be finalized later.
Today was the scheduled day for Safeer to pay his formal pre-marital visit to Shukra's home. Ammi was bustling about the house, making elaborate refreshments and preparations. Shukra, true to her stubborn nature, remained defiantly locked away in her bedroom, lying down and crying as usual.
Upstairs at his family home, Safeer was walking down the steps, looking exceptionally dashing for his visit. He was dressed in a premium, light-brown Gezna traditional fabric, a luxury Rolex watch gleaming on his wrist, capped off with a perfectly matching traditional cap.
He walked directly into Mother’s living room, kneeling down beside Abba to greet his parents with utmost respect. They responded to him with warm, proud smiles.
"Look at him, heading out to woo his bride!" Miemie teased playfully, hiding safely behind Mother's back.
Safeer’s face flushed with irritation, and he made a sudden move toward her as if to scold her physically. "Please, have patience with her," Mother intervened quickly, holding him back. "You are the mature adult here."
"Mother, this girl has completely lost all respect for me, I swear to Allah! I was simply trying to respect you and Abba by exchanging greetings, and she starts her teasing!"
Abba laughed softly at the sibling rivalry. "Alright, forgive her, my son. Get moving now so you don't run late for your appointment."
"Very well, sir," Safeer murmured, stepping out of the house with a lingering trace of annoyance on his face.
CHAPTER FIVE
Safeer drove directly to Shukra's family residence, arriving within a short time. He parked his vehicle in the designated visitor's parking lot and stepped out. As he walked toward the main entrance, his heart began to beat with nervous anticipation. Suddenly, he ran right into Shukra's younger brother.
The young boy's face lit up with a welcoming smile the moment he saw Safeer. "Good afternoon, Uncle!"
"Good afternoon! How are you doing?"
"I'm not doing bad at all."
"Good. Where is Shukra?" Safeer inquired.
"She is inside her room, crying as usual," the boy replied innocently.
"Oh... well, could you please go inside and call her out for me?"
"Sure! Ammi said that whenever you arrived, we should bring you straight inside."
The boy led Safeer into the formal guest room, where Safeer sat down comfortably. The boy then ran off to inform the household, though he soon returned to keep Safeer company, chatting away warmly as if they had known each other for years.
Meanwhile, the boy ran into the kitchen where Ammi was working. "Ammi! Ammi! Ammi!"
"Yes! What is it? Why are you screaming my name like that?" she answered, stepping out.
"Aunt Shukra's husband has arrived!"
"Oh, he's here already? I hope you directed him straight to the guest room?"
"Yes, Ammi. He is sitting in there right now and asked me to call her."
"Alright, go back and keep him company. I will send her out immediately."
"Okay!" the boy ran back.
Ammi walked straight into Shukra’s bedroom. "Shukra, stand up this instant and get dressed! Safeer is here and he is waiting for you." The moment she delivered the instruction, she turned around and walked out, giving Shukra no room to argue or reply.
Even after Ammi left, Shukra remained defiantly seated on her bed, having absolutely no intention of getting up. She sat there stubbornly for a full forty minutes.
Ammi eventually peeked back into the room, her face tight with anger. "Shukra! Are you seriously still sitting there? You left that poor boy waiting all this time? He is a busy man with his own professional responsibilities, yet he carved out time to come see you, and you leave him sitting alone like a fool? Fine, do as you please!"
"No, Ammi, I am going right now," Shukra quickly relented, frightened by her mother's severe tone. She stood up immediately. Ammi led the way out, and Shukra followed behind.
Shukra walked directly into the guest room, but the moment she crossed the threshold, she simply stood by the wall, keeping her head lowered. She didn't even grant Safeer a single glance, treating him as though he was completely beneath her notice.
A long, agonizing silence stretched across the room; neither of them uttered a single word to the other.
Finally breaking the suffocating silence, Safeer stood up from his seat. "Well... I should be taking my leave now. See you another time."
Shukra offered absolutely no verbal reply. She merely stepped aside coldly, clearing the path for him to walk past her. The moment he exited the front door, she bolted straight back to her bedroom and locked the door firmly behind her.
When Safeer returned to his family home, he deliberately hid the cold reception from his parents, pretending everything had gone perfectly. Furthermore, when Alhaji Sarakee called him later that evening to check up on the visit, Safeer lied politely, stating that Shukra had received him with open arms.
The wedding preparations moved forward rapidly. Just as Alhaji Sarakee had decreed, the marriage vows would be finalized first, and the official moving-in ceremony would take place later.
The chosen Saturday arrived—the official day of their wedding solemnization. The parents were overwhelmed with joy, while the couple was trapped in profound misery. This was especially true for Shukra, who utterly loathed the arrangement.
The situation was slightly different for Safeer. Ever since the day he first laid eyes on Shukra, a profound love for her had taken root in his heart. However, he made a solemn vow to himself: I will never show her how much I love her until I successfully teach her how to love me back. (Uh-oh, Safeer is playing a very long, calculating game!)
Safeer's close friends gathered in large numbers at the mosque to support him and celebrate his big day. He was dressed in a pristine, heavily embroidered white traditional outfit (Shadda), which had been custom-tailored to perfectly match his father's attire. Sporting clean black shoes, a black cap, and a luxury white watch that gleamed under the sun, he radiated a joyful glow. He couldn't quite explain the profound happiness bubbling inside him; he just knew he felt exceptionally blissful today. (Well, I call that the power of love!)
The high-profile wedding was attended by elite dignitaries, prominent politicians, and successful businessmen from all corners of Nigeria, most of whom were influential associates of Safeer's father and Alhaji Sarakee. The marriage vows were officially solemnized with a bride price (Sadaki) set at one hundred thousand Naira (100,000\text{ NGN}).
Following the conclusion of the ceremony, the guests dispersed happily, showering the newlyweds with immense blessings. True to his word, Alhaji Sarakee did not force Shukra to move into her husband's house immediately, allowing her to focus entirely on her final university examinations.
Shukra entered her final exam period with absolute focus, and as the exams drew to a close, the family officially set her moving-in date for exactly three weeks later.
Both extended families threw themselves into elaborate wedding preparations, organizing a grand "Mothers' Night" celebration before the bride would be formally escorted to her marital home.
The chosen Saturday for the Mothers' Night arrived, and Shukra was glammed up to absolute perfection. The elite studio "Fancy Makeover" handled her cosmetics, turning her into a breathtaking sight. She wore an incredibly expensive, premium peach-colored lace material, beautifully paired with a vibrant orange headscarf (Head). (My dear readers, words cannot accurately describe how stunning Shukra looked today; she was an absolute vision!) Her shoes and luxury handbag were carefully curated in matching shades of orange.
The entire bridal party and guests proceeded to the prestigious "Shukra Event Centre," where the celebratory night was hosted. The event was filled with an abundance of premium catering, exquisite drinks, and absolute joy. The venue was beautifully decorated, the guests danced energetically to the rhythm of the music, and the gathering was eventually concluded with heartfelt closing prayers.
Finally, the emotional moment arrived. The bride was officially escorted by her family elders to her new luxury residence located within the upscale neighborhood of Nassarawa GRA, Kano.
CHAPTER SIX: THE BACKSTORY
Alhaji Al-Ameen Sarakee was a native of Yola, Adamawa State. He completed his primary and secondary education in Adamawa, where he sat for his JAMB examinations, clearing the boards with exceptional scores. He secured admission into the Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), where he successfully graduated with a degree in Geology. Shortly after completing his university education and mandatory youth service, he landed a lucrative corporate position at a major firm in Kano State, prompting him to permanently relocate and settle down in Kano.
Alhaji Sarakee met his beautiful wife, Fateema (Shukra's mother), far away in the Holy Land of Saudi Arabia during the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Fateema had traveled there alongside her entire immediate family, as her father was a man of immense wealth and influence, serving as the distinguished Senator representing Kano Central district at the time.
Because their initial encounter occurred amidst the bustling spiritual routines of the Hajj pilgrimage, they didn't have an immediate opportunity to court or know each other deeply. However, they exchanged contact numbers with the firm understanding that once they returned to Nigeria, Sarakee would formally visit her family home.
Upon their safe return to Nigeria, Alhaji Sarakee honored his word, visiting Fateema's elite family home, where she introduced him directly to her parents. Fateema's father was deeply impressed by Sarakee’s maturity, calm intellect, and excellent manners. After conducting a thorough background check on the young corporate professional, the Senator contacted Sarakee and explicitly asked him to send his family elders to seek her hand in marriage.
Alhaji Sarakee’s parents traveled from Adamawa to Kano, fulfilling all traditional requirements. The wedding date was set without delay, and following a beautiful ceremony, Fateema was formally escorted to her new home located in the upscale "Farm Center" neighborhood of Kano.
The marital life of Fateema and Sarakee was absolutely exemplary, defined by profound mutual respect, deep love, and a nurturing partnership. They lived happily together for five long years, but during this time, Fateema never conceived a child, nor did she ever experience a single pregnancy. This prolonged delay began to take a severe emotional toll on her mental health, filling her with constant anxiety.
On Sarakee's part, however, the delay did not alter his love for her in the slightest. Day in and day out, he would hold her close, comforting her with gentle words: "Children are a profound gift solely from Almighty Allah, my love. It is simply a matter of divine timing, and when the right time comes, He will surely bless us." Fateema clung to her husband’s beautiful words, using them as an emotional anchor to soothe her aching heart.
Amidst this period of patience, Fateema suddenly discovered she was pregnant! Words cannot describe the sheer explosion of joy that erupted within Sarakee, Fateema, and their respective parents, who had been quietly worried about their childlessness but chose to remain silent to avoid adding pressure.
The pregnancy received top-tier medical care and absolute pampering. As the final month approached, Alhaji Sarakee personally traveled to Egypt to purchase an exquisite, luxury baby wardrobe and nursery supplies.
On the very eve of her delivery date, Sarakee returned safely to Kano. Early the next morning at dawn, Fateema woke up with sharp abdominal contractions and severe back labor. Without wasting a single second, Sarakee swept her up and rushed her to the hospital.
In less than an hour after their arrival, Fateema gave birth to a stunningly beautiful baby girl who looked exactly like a carbon copy of Alhaji Sarakee. Because the delivery was entirely smooth and both mother and baby were in perfect health, they were discharged from the hospital that very same day.
On the seventh day, during the traditional naming ceremony, the baby girl was officially named ZAINAB, after Alhaji Sarakee’s beloved mother. However, due to the intense joy and gratitude surrounding her birth, the family fondly gave her the pet name SHUKRA (meaning Gratitude).
It took seven full years before Fateema conceived her second pregnancy. The news of this second child was received with equal celebration, as the couple had completely given up hope of ever having another child. She carried the pregnancy to full term and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. He was named Mukhtar, after Fateema's prominent father, but the family affectionately called him AREEF.
From that time up until the present day, Fateema never had another child. Thus, Shukra and Areef grew up enveloped in absolute parental love, luxury, and meticulous care. They were raised with impeccable moral discipline, deep-seated respect for elders, natural modesty, and a profound fear of Allah.
THE STORY CONTINUES...
When Safeer closed from his office later that evening, he drove straight to his father's house. His parents sat him down and offered profound marital counseling, reminding him that a wife is a sacred trust (Amana) placed in his hands by Allah, and he must care for her with absolute gentleness.
Safeer expressed his deep gratitude to his parents and set out toward his new home. His heart was a chaotic storm of racing thoughts. He wondered: What kind of reception awaits me from Shukra tonight? Will she finally accept her destiny and build a peaceful life with me, or will she reject it out of hand?
Lost in these thoughts, Safeer pulled over at a premium local barbecue spot, purchasing some well-seasoned grilled chicken and fresh milk as an evening treat for his new bride.
Leaving the spot, he drove directly to his luxury residence in Nassarawa GRA. Upon his arrival at the estate, he honked at the gate. The security guard stepped out with a warm smile, quickly swung the massive gates open, and saluted him respectfully. Safeer returned the greeting with a pleasant smile, smoothly parked his vehicle in the designated garage, and walked directly into the house...
As Safeer stepped through the front door, he walked straight to the dining area, placing the packages of grilled chicken and fresh milk neatly on the table. He then proceeded directly to his private master bedroom, stripped out of his corporate work attire, and stepped into the bathroom to take a refreshing hot shower.
On Shukra's end, the moment her family members and bridesmaids finalized the moving-in handoff and exited the house, she immediately marched to the front door, locked it securely from the inside, and retreated to her bridal bedroom. She took a long bath, slipped into a comfortable silk sleeping gown, and climbed into bed to sleep.
About thirty minutes after entering the bathroom, Safeer emerged with a towel wrapped around his waist and another in his hand, which he used to dry his hair. He walked over to his grand dressing mirror, massaged his skin with a rich body lotion, sprayed a touch of premium cologne, and walked over to his wardrobe to put on a casual loungewear set he had already laid out.
Once he was fully dressed, he walked out to the dining area, picked up the bag containing the grilled chicken and milk, and walked purposefully toward Shukra’s bedroom door.
Reaching her door, he reached out and turned the door handle. To his absolute amazement, he found the handle completely rigid. The door was locked tight from the inside.
Inside the room, the faint sound of the door handle being rattled broke through Shukra's light slumber. She let out a sharp, irritated hiss (Tsaki) and glared fiercely at the wooden door as if Safeer was standing right there looking at her.
With a heart full of defiance and malice, she whispered to herself: "You absolute hypocrite! Did you honestly think I would leave my door unlocked for you? Nonsense!"
Part 2: Comprehensive Story Summary
This segment of "Auren Bazata" details the rapid, unexpected transition of Shukra and Safeer from strangers to a legally wedded couple, highlighting the deep contrast between parental authority and youthful resistance.
- The Fateful Encounter: Alhaji Al-Ameen Sarakee (Shukra's father) suffers a tire blowout on his way to a family wedding in Karaye. Safeer, a passing stranger, goes out of his way to provide his own spare tire and fetch local mechanics, ensuring Alhaji Sarakee reaches his destination. Deeply moved by Safeer's character and nobility, Sarakee offers him his business card.
- The Forced Mandate: Impressed by Safeer’s background as a well-educated architect and government official from a prominent family, Alhaji Sarakee decides to reward him by offering him his daughter Shukra’s hand in marriage. He delivers this as an absolute command to Shukra, bypassing her consent entirely.
- The Silent Rebellion: Shukra, an independent optometry student at BUK, is utterly devastated by the forced arrangement. She openly vows to her best friend, Aneesa, that she will make Safeer's life a living hell, ensuring he never enjoys peace of mind. Safeer, on the other hand, secretly falls in love with Shukra upon seeing her but vows to conceal his feelings, playing a strategic psychological game to make her fall for him organically.

### Character Profiles
* **Safeer Muhammad Mailafiya:**
* *Traits:* Respectful, resourceful, highly educated (Architectural Technology graduate from BUK), and financially independent.
* *Psychological Stance:* He demonstrates high emotional intelligence by hiding Shukra's coldness from his parents to preserve her honor. However, his internal vow to "teach her how to love him" by withholding his affection indicates a calculating, proud, and highly strategic personality. He is unwilling to look desperate or weak in the face of her rejection.
* **Zainab "Shukra" Sarakee:**
* *Traits:* Beautiful, highly educated (Optometry student), fiercely independent, and pampered (*Yar Gata*).
* *Psychological Stance:* Her reaction is rooted in a profound sense of violation regarding her personal autonomy. Because she has spent her entire life as a treasured, golden child, her father’s unilateral decision shocks her system. Her rebellion is not passive; she actively plans a psychological counter-offensive ("chaos and masifa") to force Safeer to regret marrying her.
### Major Themes
* **The Paradox of Gratitude (*Auren Bazata*):** The narrative explores a common cultural trope where a father pays a debt of gratitude to a noble stranger by using his daughter as the ultimate reward. This creates an immediate ethical conflict: an act of pure kindness (Safeer helping Sarakee) directly gives birth to an act of domestic captivity for Shukra.
* **The Strategic Concealment of Affection:** Safeer’s decision to hide his love introduces a layer of emotional chess. The household transitions from a place of sanctuary into a silent psychological battlefield where locking a door becomes the first physical declaration of war.
## Part 4: Technical Analytics & Pacing Evaluation
* **Narrative Pacing:** The author utilizes a highly accelerated timeline (jumping hours, weeks, and years seamlessly) to quickly move the characters from their first meeting to their wedding night. This fast-paced setup ensures the reader is brought immediately into the core conflict—the domestic cold war—without dragging out the courtship phase.
* **Tone and Diction:** The text utilizes classic Hausa dialogue structural patterns where commands from fathers (*"umarnine ba shawara ba"*) are absolute, and emotional outbursts from daughters are localized within female friendships (Shukra's vents to Aneesa). The author maintains high dramatic irony throughout: the fathers think they have engineered a perfect union, while the reader knows a domestic storm is brewing.
* **Conflict Optimization:** By giving Safeer a secret love for Shukra and giving Shukra an active hatred for Safeer, the author creates an exceptional "enemies-to-lovers" tension dynamic. The locked door at the end of Chapter Six serves as a perfect structural cliffhanger, transitioning the narrative from an institutional marriage arrangement into an intimate personal conflict.
