As she stepped out of the room, she bumped right into her mother.
"Perfect, Mom!" Nasmat said. "I actually wanted to use your phone to do an assignment. I went into your room earlier, but you were in the shower. Mom, here’s your phone; I couldn't bypass the passcode."
Her mother cast a suspicious, interrogating look at her. She knew very well that Nasmat had her own phone, and even if she didn’t, they had a computer system at home. What had brought her into the bedroom in the first place? Her mother snatched the phone from her hand, her face hardening into a stern expression.
"I was in the bathroom when I thought I heard my phone ringing," her mother said. "Did you answer it?"
"No," Nasmat replied. "But..."
Her mother tapped through the phone and saw there were no missed calls at all. "Nasmat, I don't tolerate lies. Did you pick it up or not?"
"Mom, I didn't, okay? And if you wanted to do an assignment on my phone, where is your own phone? Where is your computer system? And why didn't you borrow your older sister's phone?"
"Mom, I don't even know where my phone is right now," Nasmat argued. "And Salma and I had a fight, so you know she won't lend me hers. As for our computer system, its internet subscription has expired. Please, Mom, help me out. I don't want to fall behind in my schoolwork."
"Well, I'm heading out right now anyway," her mother snapped. "Go to your sister and I'll beg her to give it to you, or go find yours. You cause far too much trouble!"
In her heart, Nasmat thought, You haven't seen anything yet. Aloud, she said, "Mom, just forget it. I’ll go get some money from Dad and head to a cyber café instead. But Mom, where are you going? You are the one people should be coming to visit right now."
"And why is that?" her mother asked.
"Because you have a sick person at home."
"Oh, are you trying to say you haven't recovered yet, or what?"
Nasmat stormed back to their shared bedroom. She found Salma lying down, but it was glaringly obvious she wasn't actually asleep. Nasmat flung open her wardrobe, pulled out her own phone, grabbed a pillow, and went down to lie on the carpet. Under her current rules, she vowed she would never share a bed with Salma again.
But the moment she lay down, she abruptly stood back up and walked out like someone possessed by spirits. She headed straight back toward her mother’s section of the house, thinking, I just remembered—if she's heading out, she's definitely going to a place of sin.
She pushed the door open and walked right in. "Mom, I forgot to tell you—Dad said I should call you and Salma."
Her mother remarked, "So, she has officially stopped being 'Sister' and is now just 'Salma' to you, huh?"
Nasmat ignored the comment and walked out, refusing to stand there and let her mother sweet-talk her. Her mother called after her, "Tell your dad that I am heading out. Didn't I already mention that to you? So, since you and your dad are so close, why don't you go tell him yourself when you're ready to leave?!"
Her mother knew deep down that Nasmat was capable of doing things far worse than this to her now. She chose not to say anything more.
Nasmat went over to Salma and said coldly, "If you feel like it, Dad is calling you."
She then walked out to where their father was, finding a spot to sit on one of the beautifully arranged plush sofas surrounding the living room. Her father looked up and said, "My daughter, you took quite a while just to deliver a message."
"Dad, I forgot something," Nasmat replied.
"Okay. Did you call them now?"
"Yes."
Salma was the first to walk into the living room. At a single glance, anyone could tell she was drowning in distress; her entire face looked pale and gaunt. She approached her father and knelt down beside him.
"Where is your mother? What's keeping her?" he asked.
Just then, the heavy, luxurious scent of expensive perfume hit their noses. When it came to dressing up and glamour, their mother truly knew how to look exceptionally beautiful. She walked toward her husband and purred, "My man, I had to finish getting ready. I heard you were looking for me?"
Alhaji simply stared at her. Her striking appearance stirred a deep desire within him. If his daughters hadn't been sitting right in front of them... well, things would have taken a very different turn.
He teased, "So, you finish getting completely dressed for your outing before you even think to ask your husband for permission, huh?"
Although he was speaking to his wife, her eyes were completely locked onto Salma. She was staring intensely at Salma's chest, secretly fantasizing in her mind, If only Salma would give in to me, even if it's just for a brief moment...
Nasmat instantly caught the predatory look her mother was giving Salma. She thought to herself bitterly, So, you two are on the same team after all. May Allah reform you.
Alhaji cleared his throat loudly to break the tension. "Anyway, I wanted us to have a family discussion, but since you're heading out, it's fine. We can all sit down when you return."
His wife leaned down and planted a firm kiss on his forehead. "That's my man! I love you."
Alhaji stood up and said, "Come into the room with me so I can give you your allowance and a package."
She knew exactly what his intentions were, but he was completely out of her mind. If it weren't for her children, she swear to Allah nothing would keep her living in a husband's house when there was a world of wild pleasure and excitement waiting for her outside.
Before heading in, her mother stepped closer to Salma, wrapped her arms around her, and said, "My daughter, you look like you're not feeling well."
Salma forced a weak smile. "I'm fine, Mom. It's just a slight headache."
"Oh, okay. Have you taken any medication?"
"I'll take some as soon as I go back to my room."
Nasmat watched them in total silence, waiting to see how far this display would go.
Salma added, "Mom, Dad is inside waiting for you."
"I'm going right now."
The sharp, continuous hisses of disgust coming from Nasmat finally caused both of them to spin around and glare at her.
Her mother snapped, "What on earth is wrong with you?! People are just sitting here minding their own business, and you start hissing at them repeatedly. Are we your agemates?!"
Salma chimed in, "Mom, just ignore her. I'm only tolerating her because she's been sick, but I swear this girl is beginning to infuriate me."
In truth, their mother wished Nasmat wasn't in the living room so she could be left alone with Salma to try out some seductive tactic to see if she might get lucky. Left with no choice, she turned and headed toward her husband's bedroom against her will, purely to avoid creating a scene she would regret later. Looking at herself in the mirror, she hissed in frustration. She walked into his room with a sour face that looked as cold as death.
"Look, you know you're just wasting my time because I am absolutely not in the mood right now," she told her husband bluntly. "Please, my man, for Allah's sake, just let me go out, and we can handle this when I get back, okay?"
Alhaji shot her a profound, deeply disappointed look. "You know every single trick in the book to stress me out," he said. "You constantly dodge me as if you don't even know what marriage entails. Look at you, Nusaiba! It’s like you aren't the same pious woman I married. I am a human being just like anyone else; I am not an angel, nor am I infallible to say I don't need a woman's intimacy. Allah created us human beings with sexual desires. What exactly do you expect me to do? Should I go out and indulge in loose women? It is wives like you who drive your husbands into destruction. Nusaiba, fear Allah! A husband's marital rights are not something to be played with."
To her, his lengthy, righteous lecture was nothing but a massive waste of her time. Against her will, she submitted to his demands just to get it over with.
Meanwhile, out in the living room, Nasmat turned to Salma and said, "For Allah's sake, can I ask you a question?"
Salma remained dead silent. Nasmat stood up, walked over, and sat right next to her sister, biting her lip.
"For Allah's sake, what kind of pleasure do you people actually derive from this filth? And how much money do you make from it in a month?"
Salma completely misunderstood the true nature of Nasmat’s question, so she had no logical answer. She remained quiet, staring blankly down at her fingers.
"Aha! I knew I wouldn't get a straight answer out of you," Nasmat scoffed. "So, it's because you are deep into this secret lifestyle that you constantly reject and chase away decent men, huh? Wow, may Allah reform you. But this raging sexual desperation is entirely out of hand. Honestly, you people terrify me."
Salma blinked, thoroughly confused. "What secret lifestyle are you talking about? I don't have the slightest clue what you're implying with your wild accusations. I’ve noticed a massive wave of insolence and disrespect coming from you lately. But I am warning you, do not push me to my limit, or I swear to Allah I will teach you a lesson you'll never forget!"
"Oh, really?" Nasmat shot back. "I would much rather be someone bursting with open insolence than someone who is on the verge of spiritual death for committing a major, unforgivable sin against Allah! A woman sleeping with another woman... May Allah guide you!"
In a flash of pure fury, Salma lunged forward, grabbed Nasmat tightly by the throat with all her might, and snarled, "You daughter of a bitch! You had better explain exactly what you mean by that right now! If you don't, I swear the spirits in your head will have to carry your corpse out of here today, do you hear me?!"
A violent, chaotic physical brawl instantly erupted between the two sisters.

The violent wrestling match between the two sisters showed no signs of stopping. Both of them were panting and groaning heavily because neither actually knew how to fight properly.
Suddenly, Salma let go of Nasmat. She remembered a solemn vow she had made to herself never to fight with her younger sister again, knowing that if their father walked out of his room right now and caught them, she would be the one wrongly blamed for the chaos.
They shifted from physical blows to a bitter war of words, each brutally insulting and degrading the other.
Inside the bedroom, their father, who had just finished taking a shower, called out, "I think I hear a lot of noise and shouting out in the living room."
His wife, who was furiously combing through her hair, thought to herself, Oh, you're definitely going to hear a lot of noise now, seeing as you've completely ruined my plans for the evening. If you had any idea how much I despise sharing a bed with you, you would stop touching me entirely.
Alhaji spoke up again as he threw on his traditional jallabiah robe. "My Hajiya, can't you hear what I'm saying?"
"I hear you," she replied tightly. "It's just Nasmat and her endless drama out there."
He stepped up right behind her, leaning close to her ear. "Hajiya, how about we go for a second round? You look like you're finally in the mood."
She jumped away from him instantly. "For heaven's sake, Alhaji! Intimacy isn't like a plate of food where if a person isn't full, they just ask for a second helping!"
"Well, to me, it's far more important than food," he smiled.
"Well, it's not like that for me! After the grueling ordeal you just put me through, you're still not satisfied?!"
"Alright, alright, I'm sorry," he chuckled. "You truly amaze me. How is it that after all these years of marriage, you still haven't gotten used to this one simple thing?"
"Is this really the kind of enjoyable thing a person is supposed to get used to?" she grumbled.
He gently rubbed her abdomen and said, "May Allah let a new seed be planted here today."
She puckered her lips, pouting like a little girl. "I swear to Allah, Alhaji, you have zero shame! You refuse to grow up. Aren't you embarrassed to be talking about having babies at our age? It's deeply embarrassing! An old woman like me walking around with a pregnant belly? God forbid! If Salma were married by now, we would be doting on grandchildren."
"You're the only one who views yourself as an old woman," he smiled warmly. "To me, you are as fresh and beautiful as a new bride."
"Look, that's enough. Let's drop the subject," she said, cutting him off. "I can see your youthful energy is acting up today. Go out there and handle that favored, spoiled daughter of yours who is throwing a tantrum out there."
"Alright, but I'll hold you to your promise when I get back tonight."
"Oh, stop playing around and just leave!"
"Well, pray for me that Allah grants us a baby today!" he laughed as he finally walked out.
Left alone, her face twisted into an expression of pure, explosive rage. She felt completely choked with anger. By now, she could have been at her secret gathering, enjoying the company of three beautiful women, testing each one to see who had the best drive. She felt Alhaji had treated her with utter injustice. However, she took comfort in knowing that her companions would save her specific orders for tomorrow, since she had already paid a premium to secure them.
She rubbed her stomach and muttered bitterly, "A pregnancy? Me, giving birth again? Not until the afterlife!"
The moment Dad walked into the living room, he found the two girls sitting in tense, rigid silence. One look at them was enough to tell him that a storm had just passed. His face hardened, losing all trace of the laughter he had shared a moment ago. He signaled with his hand, commanding them to come closer to him.
Salma sat closely on his right. Nasmat slouched down on the floor, her clothes completely disheveled and wrinkled from the brawl.
"Get down on your knees," he commanded sternly.
They immediately dropped to their knees; neither of them ever dared trifle with their father’s direct orders. He locked his eyes onto Salma, silently demanding an explanation.
Tears instantly welled up in Salma's eyes. She wiped them away and choked out, "Dad, I swear to Allah I don't know what I've done to this girl. Ever since she was discharged from the hospital, she has been acting completely bizarrely toward me, doing things I cannot even begin to comprehend. The day you rushed to meet us at the hospital, you didn't stop to ask what had actually transpired between us; you just judged me blindly." She broke off, sobbing bitterly.
"And then," Salma continued, "after we returned home, I simply borrowed her hijab to perform my prayers, and she unleashed a torrent of vile, disgusting insults at me. I swallowed my pride and endured it all because of a promise I made to myself to let Nasmat have her peace of mind while she recovers. But now, Dad, I am absolutely certain that Nasmat is intentionally looking for trouble and is completely out of control. Just now, as I was sitting here quietly, she walked up to me and hurled the most disgusting, inappropriate accusations at my face! Dad, if I no longer have the right to correct her in this house, or if she views me as a wicked person who doesn't even deserve to be treated as her older sister... then please, arrange my visa tomorrow so I can return to Germany. I would much rather go back to a place where my dignity and respect are valued!"
She wept heart-wrenchingly. Her father drew her close, wrapping his arms around her to soothe her. He then turned a cold, piercing glare onto Nasmat, signaling that it was her turn to speak.
Nasmat froze, completely unsure of where to even begin. "Um... um... Dad, the truth is, the day I was being discharged from the hospital, Salma handed me her phone and told me to call you. Dad, while I was searching through her contacts, my finger accidentally tapped the top of the screen and opened her text messages. I read one of them. I was so deeply shocked that I began chanting prayers out loud. Salma rushed over, saw what I was reading, and immediately flew into a violent rage, screaming at me for opening her text messages when it was none of my business. Dad, I swear to Allah, Salma is a lesbian too! She is heavily involved in same-sex relationships!"
Alhaji's hand flew across the air and delivered a vicious, ringing slap across Nasmat's face!
"Have you completely lost your mind?!" he roared. "Are you insane, Safiyya?! I swear you have truly gone mad! No person in their right mind would ever brand their own sister with such a disgusting, vile label!"
Salma quickly intervened, "Dad, it's not entirely her fault. If you had just explained the situation to me from the very beginning instead of holding a grudge, I could have explained everything to her... Nasmat, you need to get your head straight. Someone sent another one of those targeted blackmails, and you fell for it hook, line, and sinker without telling me, right?"
Salma turned back to her father. "Dad, I don't even have a boyfriend right now, let alone anyone pursuing me to the point of ruining a marriage. And I am absolutely not a part of those who practice same-sex marriage (Auren Jinsi)!"
Nasmat, clutching her burning cheek as tears streamed down her face, cried out, "Dad! If she isn't one of them, why does she despise the very mention of marriage?! Every single time anyone brings up a marriage proposal to her, she becomes deeply miserable! To me, that alone is absolute proof that she is hiding something! I will never trust her until I finish my own investigation and find the concrete proof that will wipe this suspicion from my heart!"
Nasmat stood up to storm off, but her father barked a terrifying command: "We are speaking to you, and you have the audacity to stand up and walk away?! Who do you think you are, you brat?! Do you think I would lie to you? I know the character of every single member of my household inside out! Are you now trying to teach me how to manage my own family?!"
Nasmat yelled back, "I swear to Allah, Dad, you don't know a single thing about what your family is doing behind your back!"
As he raised his hand to beat her, Salma quickly grabbed his arm, holding him back. "No, Dad, please let her go. Nasmat, go ahead and leave. I swear to Allah, I will provide you with undeniable, concrete proof to clear my name. Go on, leave."
Just then, their mother walked out of the bedroom. "Why do I hear my baby girl crying out here? Don't tell me this ridiculous fighting is still going on?!"

Dad turned to look at his wife, his heart swelling with deep love and admiration for her. The way his wife consistently carried herself with such profound piety and god-fearing behavior made it impossible for anyone to ever suspect her of harboring a dark, hidden life. Truly, only Allah knows the depths of a person's heart.
"This youngest daughter of yours is completely out of control," Alhaji sighed. "I literally just had to slap her across the face."
Her mother's eyes widened in shock. "A slap?! Alhaji, whatever she did must have been catastrophic for you to resort to hitting her. You are an incredibly patient man, and I know how much you hate it when anyone lays a hand on her. What on earth did Safiyya do?"
"It's about those text messages," Dad explained. "You know the anonymous blackmails sent to our daughter to drive away her suitors? Well, another one was sent to Salma the day I left Nasmat in her care at the hospital. Nasmat saw it, but because she didn't understand the full context of what was actually happening, Salma tried to grab the phone to hide the message from her. That's what triggered the whole fight, to the point where Nasmat demanded they be separated into different bedrooms. And then she had the audacity to accuse Salma of being a lesbian who practices same-sex marriage! Can you believe that? That's exactly why I lost my temper and slapped her."
Hearing her husband's detailed explanation, her mother’s stomach tied itself into knots. She realized a catastrophic storm was brewing; the day Alhaji discovered the absolute, naked truth about either her or Salma, it would be the end.
Maintaining her pious facade, she sighed and said, "Honestly, Alhaji, the time has come for Nasmat to be told the truth about those blackmails. Keeping her in the dark will only cause more damage, because if she doesn't hear the truth at home, she will eventually hear a distorted version outside. Salma, go to your younger sister right now and explain everything beautifully so she can fully understand, okay? Go on, my children. May Allah bless you both. May Allah prevent you from straying into corruption, protect your ears from hearing evil, protect your eyes from seeing evil, and guide you on the straight path."
Alhaji added, "And may Allah grant you a righteous husband, Salma!"
In her heart, her mother thought, God forbid, I do not say amen to that. Aloud, she forced a smile and said, "Amen."
Salma stood up, her face flushed with a mixture of intense embarrassment and profound gratitude for the beautiful prayers her mother had just showered upon them.
"My beautiful Hajiya," Alhaji smiled warmly after the girls left, "I always find such peace in your prayers. But tell me, why do you always avoid praying for them to find good husbands?"
"Oh Alhaji," she lied smoothly, "I am just deeply terrified that these girls might never be allowed to settle down into peaceful marriages, seeing how many strange things keep happening around us. Honestly, my heart bleeds for them. Salma is such an honorable, pure child for keeping herself entirely chaste from the temptations of the devil. Look at the generation we live in today—young girls are indulging in fornication, and a massive, terrifying plague has taken over where women are sexually pursuing other women, or turning to self-gratification and masturbation to satisfy themselves. We can only pray that Allah guides society."
"Amen," Alhaji replied sincerely.
Meanwhile, Salma walked into the bedroom and found Nasmat lying on the bed with her eyes tightly shut. She walked over and sat down beside her.
"My little sister," Salma said softly, "please forgive me. I didn't realize the exact source of your anger until now. But you must know that if I ever caught any member of our family engaging in that filthy lifestyle, I would unleash a punishment far more severe than yours."
Nasmat instantly bolted upright, staring directly into her sister's eyes. "Like who, for example?"
"Like you, or anyone else in our immediate family," Salma replied firmly.
"And what if you caught Mom doing it?" Nasmat pressed, her voice trembling. "Would you still enforce that severe punishment?"
"Of course!" Salma answered without a shred of hesitation. "But may Allah forbid it; Mom would never dream of committing such filth. But Nasmat, I swear to you, if I ever discovered she was involved in such an abomination, I wouldn't know how to survive the shock. I would completely despise her and sever all ties with her forever. Nasmat, you need to understand that this very word—lesbianism—is the exact curse that completely shattered my life, destroyed my future plans, and robbed me of all my happiness. I am going to tell you the entire truth today, because I know you already know a few things about Kamal... Let me tell you exactly who Kamal is to me."
The Backstory: Who is Kamal?
"One day, back on Wednesday, March 15, 2010, school had just ended. I was standing inside the school compound waiting for our driver to pick me up. He was incredibly late, and I got so exhausted from standing that I walked over to sit under a large tree inside the school premises. By then, every single student had been picked up; I was completely alone.
Our Islamic Studies teacher was driving out of the compound. Her car passed close to where I was sitting. She looked at me, stopped, and called out, 'Salma Kabir Dayyib'—which was how she always addressed me—'What are you still doing here? Why haven't you gone home?'
By that time, I was so overwhelmed with anxiety that tears were already rolling down my face. I told her, 'My driver hasn't arrived yet, and I don't know what's wrong with him. And no one else is coming because Dad strictly forbade me from ever commercial taking public transport.'
She felt deeply sorry for me and said, 'Oh, matching that's terrible. Come on, jump in, let me drive you home. There must be a problem at your house.'
So, I got into her car and we drove off. On our way home, a massive car suddenly came out of nowhere and rammed into our vehicle with terrifying force, causing a brutal collision. Mallama Fatima began chanting prayers frantically while I screamed in absolute terror. Before she could slam on the brakes, we had both been severely shaken up.
We staggered out of the wrecked car, and I noticed Mallama Fatima's hand was bleeding profusely. Without thinking, I ripped off my hijab and used it to tightly bind her bleeding hand to stop the flow.
Just then, the door of the other car flung open, and a young, wealthy man stepped out from the backseat. He was bursting with absolute arrogance and disrespect. He marched right up to Mallama Fatima and raised his hand, preparing to violently insult and curse her.
Before he could even utter a single syllable of his insult, I stepped forward and slapped him squarely across the face!
His personal bodyguard instantly lunged toward me, but the young man barked a sharp command, stopping him in his tracks. I glared at them and snapped, 'Are you completely drunk on your own arrogance?! Go ahead, tell your guard to beat me! You are a utterly shameless, spoiled brat who has zero respect for elders! Your reckless driving caused this accident, and instead of apologizing, you open your mouth to insult an innocent woman?!'
As I was yelling, I suddenly realized he wasn't even listening; his eyes were completely glued to my chest, a disgusting, predatory smirk playing on his lips as he licked his lips like a wild goat. He was nothing but a vulgar animal.
I grabbed Mallama Fatima's good hand and helped her back into the car so we could rush to the hospital. But Nasmat, Mallama was in too much shock and pain to drive, and back then, I didn't know how to drive a car. I sat her down in the passenger seat, stepped out, and called out to the gathering crowd, 'Does anyone here know how to drive?!'
To my absolute shock, that same arrogant young man turned to his security guard and ordered him to drive our car to the hospital. Everyone around was completely stunned by his sudden shift. I didn't care about their confusion; we just needed to get Mallama to the clinic.
At the hospital, the doctors dressed her wound properly and gave her a tetanus shot to prevent infection. Afterward, the guard drove us to Mallama's house, and I stayed with her to help her settle in. The bodyguard then left.
Once he was gone, I gave Mallama Fatima my mom's phone number so she could call her and explain the entire situation. It didn't take long before Mom drove over to pick me up herself.
But Nasmat, here is the terrifying twist... we had no idea that Kamal had intentionally used that entire accident and his security guard as a calculated trap to achieve a sinister objective..."
