AUREN TAGWAYE BOOK COMPELET BY ZEEY ALKASIM
"Hassana, why won't you hurry up so we can leave? Every single time someone plans something with you, you always manage to ruin their mood! Honestly, do you want Daddy to come back and forbid us from going out? You know very well that if I don't attend this dinner party, Zuby will be deeply upset. You know this wedding is for her best friend, and since she invited us, it wouldn't look right for us to refuse to attend."
In a soft, calm voice, the girl called Hassana spoke up, "Haba, Hussaina. Look, I swear I really don't like this lifestyle of yours. Is it that whenever you are invited to a party, you start trembling with excitement as if you've just been invited to perform the Holy Pilgrimage?"
Hassana’s words only infuriated Hussaina further. Raising her voice in a sudden outburst of anger, she snapped, "Shut your mouth, my lady, and don't speak to me like that! You've never known anything about modern, sophisticated life anyway. If you're not going, you don't have to criticize me—just sit here at home! That's exactly how you'll end up, spending every single day in the kitchen."
Hassana sat down on the edge of the bed and removed the veil she had put on. "As for me, I'm definitely not going. You can go ahead by yourself and come back whenever you're done. Honestly, my mind hasn't been at peace with going to this dinner party at all. Just look at the clock; it's already seven-thirty in the evening."
Hearing Hassana refuse to go made Hussaina walk closer to her. She leaned down directly in front of her face until their breath mingled, and then she began to speak in a soft, persuasive tone.
"Haba, my sweet sister. Please, have patience with me. You know I can't possibly go without you..."
The ringing of her phone abruptly interrupted what she was saying. She quickly reached out and picked it up. Seeing Zuby's name flashing across the screen, she quickly pressed 'OK' and brought the phone to her ear.
"Hello, Zuby. What's up?"
On the other end of the line, Zuby answered, "Haba, my friend! What are you doing that you haven't left yet? Is that sister of yours playing her usual spoilsport routine again?"
Hussaina glanced at Hassana and then lied, "No, we are leaving right now. I'm coming along with her."
"Please, hurry up."
"Okay," Hussaina said simply and ended the call.
In the living room, they found their mother watching the Sunnah TV station. Approaching her respectfully, Hassana said, "Momy, we are leaving."
Momy looked her daughters up and down. There was absolutely nothing improper about their attire; they were dressed in matching Atampa sewn into a traditional skirt and blouse, with long veils draped properly over their shoulders.
"Alright, but make sure you are back no later than nine o'clock. You know your daddy returns home by nine-thirty," Momy said, looking them over one last time.
Hussaina quickly replied, "Don't worry, Momy. We will be back in the house by nine."
Hassana added, "Insha Allah, Momy. We give you our promise."
"Alright then, you may go. May Allah bless you both."
They both replied with "Ameen" and left the house.

The moment they stepped out of the gate, they walked a short distance until they hailed a tricycle (Napep) and told the driver where they were heading.
When they arrived at the elegant hotel where the dinner was being held, they headed straight for the hall. They knew immediately where the party was taking place due to the crowd of people they could see inside.
As they walked in, Zuby was sitting and chatting with a boyfriend whose ocean of love she had long fallen into. She had shown him her feelings countless times, but he refused to acknowledge them; Hussaina simply wasn't the type of girl he preferred, so he kept her strictly in the friend zone.
Filled with joy, Zuby welcomed her friend Hussaina, completely ignoring Hassana. Hassana also acted as though she didn't even notice the existence of a creature named Zuby, because right from the beginning, her spirit had never taken a liking to her.
They found a place to sit among the chairs arranged in rows across the hall.
Zuby looked at her boyfriend and called his name, "Hafiz, meet my friends that I told you about. They are twins. This is Hussaina, and this is Hassana," she said, pointing toward Hassana, who immediately turned her face away. Hassana disliked being associated with men, let alone engaging in conversation with them, which was why Hussaina and Zuby always considered her old-fashioned and unsophisticated.
They sat there while Zuby kept throwing herself at Hafiz, talking endlessly to him. He, however, paid absolutely no attention to her. Ever since Hassana and Hussaina had walked in, his eyes had been entirely fixed on Hussaina; he had already fallen deeply in love with her. Zuby hadn't noticed this, but Hussaina had caught on long ago—partly because whenever their eyes met, he flashed her an incredibly charming smile. Since he was exceptionally handsome and high-class, Hussaina instantly felt herself falling for him as well.
A vibrant beat blasted through the room as the DJ turned on the speakers. Oh dear, Zuby's body began to twitch to the rhythm. She was a notorious dance fanatic, a fact they had all known for a long time, so they weren't surprised to see her in the center of the dance floor all by herself, shaking violently. Devoid of any shyness, she danced up a storm, doing the Shoki dance with intense energy.
During this distraction, Hafiz found the perfect opportunity to speak to Hussaina. "How are you doing, beautiful?"
Oh, what a thrilling sensation Hussaina felt all over her body the moment Hafiz's deep voice hit her ears. In her heart, she thought, Wow, fantastic. What a nice voice! So his voice is just as attractive as his looks? This guy is truly the complete package.
Before Hussaina could even give her first answer, Hafiz spoke a second time, "If you don't mind, could you save your number on my phone? We can talk later after you get back home."
Without any hesitation, she agreed and typed her number into his phone. When she handed it back to him, Hafiz—being a smooth, experienced guy—deliberately brushed his hand against hers as he took the phone. A sudden spark shot through both of them the moment their soft hands touched. Hafiz held onto her hand, unable to let go for nearly two minutes, until she managed to muster the strength to gently pull her hand away from his. He winked at her and flashed another captivating smile.
Hassana remained completely unaware of everything happening right beside her. Even though they were sitting together, her attention was entirely focused on her phone. She was actively chatting in a group created by Zee Mmn Khady called Ciwon Ya Mace (The Pain of a Woman). She thoroughly enjoyed the group because of the excellent advice shared and the highly useful tips posted there. Above all, she loved the incredible unity among the members. Even though she was enjoying her chat with Mmn Ummi, Ameeno, Mmn Ramadan, and Rukky Abdull, it didn't stop her from keeping an eye on the time to avoid staying out late. Checking the clock, she saw it was already eight-thirty, and she resolved in her mind that they would head home by exactly eight-forty.
Suddenly, she heard Hussaina's voice, "Hassana, please lend me your phone to make a quick call. I didn't realize my airtime had run out."
Without any objection, Hassana handed it over. "But seriously, the moment you finish that call, we are leaving. It's almost nine o'clock, and you remember the promise we made to Momy."
"Okay," Hussaina replied simply. She walked away, heading toward the parking lot where the cars were parked, pretending to be on a real phone call.
She stopped right beside the exact car Hafiz had described to her, leaning against it with her eyes fixed on the screen.
Hafiz stood up and followed her out. Hassana watched him leave but thought nothing of it; her only wish was for Hussaina to finish her call quickly so they could head home.
Page 4
Hafiz unlocked the car, and they both slid into the backseat. Since the car was heavily tinted, no one from the outside could see what was happening inside, especially since the parking area was quite dark.
Hafiz turned on the air conditioning, and the car was instantly filled with a cool breeze and a delightful fragrance.
They sat incredibly close, their bodies pressed against each other. Hafiz, speaking with the smooth, practiced ease of an experienced womanizer, was the first to speak: "My baby, you are stunningly beautiful. Have you looked at yourself? You look just like a maiden of paradise (Hoor al-ayn)."
Hussaina flashed a brilliant smile and covered her face with her hands in bashfulness. Hafiz focused his gaze on her long, smooth fingers, which were adorned with bangles and an elegant silver ring. Reaching out, he took her hand, squeezing it tightly in his own before starting to toy playfully with her ring. "Wow, this ring looks incredibly beautiful on you, my baby. Is it a set that comes with your necklace?"
He asked this while moving his hand smoothly to her neck, playing gently with her necklace. By this point, Hussaina felt completely weak and overwhelmed by the sensation of his touch on her neck. She couldn't even find the words to speak, her breath coming in short, uneven gasps. This gave him the opportunity to slide his hand further down beneath her blouse, where he began to fondle her breasts. A sudden shiver (yarrrr) ran through her entire body at this completely unfamiliar experience. Hafiz was the absolute first man to ever touch her intimately this way. She was currently in a relationship with Jabeer, but Jabeer had never once laid a hand on her body. Does this mean Jabeer doesn't know how to romance a woman, or what? she wondered.
While she was lost in these thoughts, she felt Hafiz pull her into a tight embrace, pressing her against his chest as he whispered, "I love you," into her ear.
In a weak, breathless voice, she managed to reply, "Me too, my dear."
"Wow, beautiful, my baby," Hafiz murmured. He brought his lips down to hers, locking them in a deep, passionate kiss.
Meanwhile, as the night grew late, Hassana's anxiety began to spike. She searched everywhere for Hussaina, both inside and outside the hall, but she was nowhere to be found. She was thrown into a state of absolute panic. To make matters worse, ever since Zuby hit the dance floor, she hadn't looked back once, let alone stopped to ask if Hassana knew where her sister was. Furthermore, Hussaina had gone off with her phone, making it impossible to call her.
Defeated, Hassana walked back to a chair, sat down, and rested her chin in both hands in deep distress.
Eventually, Zuby's attention wandered back to where she had left them, but she didn't see Hussaina. Instead, she only saw Hassana sitting with her face buried in her hands, her eyes brimming with tears. Zuby quickly rushed over to her. "Hey, where is your sister?"
Hassana didn't even hear her initially, deeply lost in a terrifying train of thought regarding what kind of punishment their father would unleash on them if he returned to find them missing. Not only would they face his wrath, but even their mother wouldn't escape blame, because their father was a very strict, uncompromising man when it came to the discipline and upbringing of his household.
Zuby nudged her sharply, "I'm asking you a question! Where is Hussaina?"
Only then did Hassana snap out of her thoughts. "Honestly, I swear I've been looking for her too. Please, use your phone to call her for me; she walked away with mine."
"Then where is Hafiz?" Zuby demanded, tossing another sharp question at her.
"Look, I don't know where either of them is! Please, just help me call Hussaina so we can go home."
Instantly, suspicion flared in Zuby's heart. She sensed that something underhanded was going on between Hafiz and Hussaina. If that's true, she thought, then Hussaina has truly stirred up a hornet's nest for herself.
She pulled her phone out of her purse and began dialing Hussaina's number. Zuby called her nearly eight times, but there was no answer. This irritated her immensely. Without even glancing back at Hassana, she walked away, visibly burning with anger.
Seeing how late it was getting, Hassana nervously asked a young lady sitting nearby, "Please, what time is it?"
The girl glanced at her phone and replied shortly, "It's exactly 9:08 PM."
Completely terrified, Hassana stood up and rushed out to the hotel courtyard. Fortunately, a tricycle (Napep) had just dropped off some passengers. She quickly jumped in and gave the driver her home address. As they drove off, her mind raced with fear regarding her sister's whereabouts. What on earth am I going to tell Momy if she asks me where Hussaina is? she thought, as fresh tears began to stream down her cheeks. O Allah, please let her be safe wherever she is.
She remained trapped in these agonizing thoughts until they pulled up right in front of their house. She hadn't even realized they had arrived until the driver spoke up, "Hajiya, we are here." She paid him and quickly climbed out.
With a heavy, anxious heart, she walked up to the gate and knocked gently. The security guard asked who it was, and upon recognizing her voice, opened the gate for her.
She quietly slipped into the house with a soft greeting (sallama). She found Momy sitting in the living room with her chin in her hands. Without even asking, she knew her mother was waiting up for them. Seeing Hassana walk in alone, Momy let out a heavy sigh of relief. "Alhamdulillah. Where is your sister?"
Tears continued to overflow from Hassana's eyes, and she couldn't bring herself to answer her mother's question. Terrified, Momy rushed over to Hassana, grabbing her tightly by the shoulders. "Where is she, I said?! Did something happen to her? Tell me!"
Seeing how frantic her mother had become, Hassana wiped away her tears. "Nothing happened to her. It's just that I searched everywhere for her and couldn't find her, and it's already so late..."
"Subhanallah!" Momy cried out. "May Allah let her be safe. Did you call her phone?"
"My phone is in her possession."
In a state of pure panic, Momy grabbed her own phone and dialed Hussaina's number. She, too, was met with an automated "no answer" response, just like everyone else who had tried calling. It wasn't until her tenth attempt that Hussaina finally answered the phone in a weak, breathless voice. At that exact moment, she was still in the car with Hafiz; he had already stripped off her blouse and was in the middle of unhooking her bra.
In a furious, commanding tone, Momy yelled into the phone, "You ungrateful child! You better get yourself back to this house this very instant before your father returns!" Without waiting to hear whatever excuse Hussaina had to offer, Momy slammed the phone down, ending the call.
Right at that very second, the loud blare of a car horn echoed from the gate, signaling the master of the house had returned. In an absolute frenzy of terror, Hassana began to wring her hands wildly. "Momy! It's Daddy! He's back! I'm completely ruined!"
Momy turned to her sharply and hissed, "Quick! Run into your bedroom before he comes in and realizes she's missing! Because she isn't the only one who will suffer for this blunder—our own peace will be completely destroyed tonight!"
Without wasting a second, Hassana bolted into their room. She sat heavily on the edge of the bed, burying her face in her hands, her heart breaking for her twin sister.
Page 5
Suddenly, Hassana felt herself being violently yanked from behind. Startled, she spun around, only to find herself staring directly into her daddy's furious eyes. Without a single word of explanation, he began to mercilessly lash her with a thick cable wire he held in his hand. She burst into violent screams, crying out in agony, but her daddy showed absolutely no mercy, striking her with the full force of his anger. From the living room, Momy and Hussaina could hear her agonizing screams. Hassana broke into a fresh wave of weeping, turning to her mother, "Momy, please, for Allah's sake, help Hussaina! Beg Daddy to stop before he severely injures her!" Momy looked back at her with cold indifference and replied, "Whatever she gets, she brought entirely upon herself. Let him beat her thoroughly so that tomorrow she won't dare repeat this nonsense."
Moments later, Hussaina came bursting into the living room like someone who had been violently thrown out. She sprinted directly behind Momy, weeping uncontrollably as she clung to her desperately. "Oh Momy, please, for Allah's sake, help me! I swear I will never do it again!"
Momy violently peeled Hussaina's hands off her body and walked away from her, snapping, "When you chose to display your blatant disobedience, did you consult me? Therefore, do not seek any help from me. Go and face the consequences of your actions!" With that, Momy marched into her bedroom and locked the door firmly behind her. Hassana burst into tears upon seeing that Momy had no intention of pleading with their father, and that their father had absolutely no intention of stopping. Hassana rushed forward and grabbed her daddy's hand, begging him desperately, "Please, Daddy, have mercy on her! She will never do it again!" In a fit of rage, Daddy violently shoved Hassana aside and resumed his brutal beating of Hussaina. Both girls were weeping uncontrollably, begging for mercy, but he completely ignored their pleas. It was only after he was entirely satisfied that Hussaina had been thoroughly punished that he finally let her go. Huffing and puffing with rage, he walked toward his own room, tossing a final warning over his shoulder: "Go ahead and stay out past sunset again tomorrow! This is just a small taste of what I will do to a foolish, undisciplined girl!"
Taking her by the hand, Hassana helped her sister walk back toward their bedroom. Hussaina could barely take a step due to the severe, brutal beating she had just received at their father's hands.
Hassana sat her down gently on the edge of the bed while wiping away her own tears. She said, "Do you see exactly what I was trying to protect you from? There wasn't a corner of that dinner party I didn't search just to find you, but you were completely missing! Where on earth did you go?"
In a hoarse, strained voice, Hussaina muttered, "Uhm... right now, I don't have the energy to give you that answer."
Without pressing her further, Hassana walked into the bathroom and prepared some warm water for her. She escorted Hussaina inside and closed the door behind her. Hussaina took a bath, soothing her battered and aching body. After she stepped out, Hassana carefully rubbed some soothing ointment (Robb) all over her bruises. Finally, they both climbed into bed. Both lay in absolute silence, pretending to be asleep, but in reality, each was trapped in her own deep thoughts.
Hussaina's heart and mind were entirely consumed by thoughts of Hafiz. Wow, she thought, Hafiz truly knows how to romance a woman. Now I realize Jabeer doesn't know the first thing about love. All he ever does whenever he visits is give me endless moral lectures and advice. I vastly prefer a modern, worldly man who truly understands the art of love. Honestly, I need to stall this marriage issue with Jabeer, because right now, there is no man I desire in this world more than Hafiz. What happened between us today has made me realize I want no one else but him.
Hassana, on the other hand, lay awake wondering where on earth her sister could have gone to stay out that late. May Allah protect her from falling prey to these smooth-talking modern boys, she prayed silently. They are nothing but absolute deceivers. Hmm... this is exactly why I don't even let myself get involved with men. With those thoughts, she adjusted her position and finally drifted off to sleep.
Meanwhile, in Daddy's room, sleep completely eluded him. He sat upright on the edge of his bed, his chin resting heavily in his hands. After a while, he stood up and began pacing back and forth across the room. I must act quickly to handle this situation once and for all, he resolved. I have to step up and enforce strict discipline regarding these girls' upbringing. In today's world, you can give birth to a child, but you cannot give birth to their character. Daddy spent almost the entire night awake, consumed by these heavy thoughts.
The next morning, they were all seated around the dining table having breakfast. The house was dead silent, save for the clinking of plates and spoons. One look at everyone’s face revealed their fouled moods and the heavy tension left behind by the previous night's events.
Once they finished eating, Daddy cleared his throat loudly. "Are you listening to me?"
They all turned their eyes toward him.
"Since your behavior has completely degenerated into immorality, I want to inform you right now that I have officially canceled your plans to attend college at A. MUSLIM COMMUNITY SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, FUNTUA. From this day forward, remove any thought of that school from your minds. Both of you are getting married instead! You, Hassana, I expect you to present a suitor within one single month. As for you..." he turned a vicious, piercing glare toward Hussaina, "...tell Jabeer that I want to see him immediately!"
A sudden, violent wave of panic washed through Hussaina’s chest upon hearing that her father was demanding to see Jabeer. She lowered her head instantly and muttered, "Daddy... Jabeer and I have long broken up."
Daddy went dead silent, staring at her coldly. "Fine. Then you must present a suitor within one month as well. If you exceed the exact number of days I have given you, I will take whatever measures I deem fit."
He stood up, grabbed his office bag, and cast a final look at Momy. "As for going out, from today onward, I have banned it entirely. If they ever leave this house, ensure it is strictly to go to Islamic school (Islamiyya)." The moment he finished speaking, he turned on his heel and walked out of the house.
